It gave me good insight to narrating from two perspectives. I completely didn't expect the ending; it was so well written and eye-opening to different perspectives. Now, I reconsider what I "know" about people.

I really, really wanted to like this one. I've heard good things about Jeanette Winterson, plus much of the book is set in Venice, a city that means a lot to me. But by page 50 or so, I found I was rolling my eyes pretty much constantly at the prose. I'm all for magical realism (which this kinda sorta is) but ugh, I don't know, you guys. The prose was looking pretty purple a lot of the time. That's not my thing.

I do want to give Winterson another shot, though. Maybe in a few months.
