I liked this one. I didn't exactly know what to expect, but it turned out to be an exciting, action-packed story full of magic.

The magic system is very unique, and I have to admit I don't quite get it. Which frustrates me a bit, vevause I want to get it.

I really enjoyed the dual POV of Adam and Bobby. They're estranged brother, both with their own issues and guilt and anger towards the other. Seeing them reunite and stumble through some kind of reconciliation was fascinating.

The storyline itself is full of twists and turns, and there is always something happening. It's not always the easiest to follow, but it comes together in the end.

I'm very interested in seeing where this story goes.

A fun urban fantasy wherein Adam, a gay witch from Oklahoma, must help his estranged brother and mother who had him committed to a terrible care facility as a teenager, deal with a lovecraftian horror that is terrorizing Denver. The writing style's a bit plain and straightforward, but incredibly readable and serves the story nicely. The characters are well-developed and interesting, and I appreciated that you get both Adam and his brother's point of views. I though the love triangle being built up was a bit meh, but it's a great start for what looks to be a fun series and a lovely romance.

I have mixed feelings about this. I picked it up mainly because I liked the title and it had gay rep. The plot was entertaining, but I honestly hated most of the characters, especially the 2 main ones Adam & Bobby. Also was not expecting the weirdly pro cop agenda. All cops are bastards, even the bisexual latino ones. I don’t think I’ll read the rest of the series simply because I don’t care what happens to the characters.

The way the love interest is handled started to feel like copaganda. It sucks, because otherwise I was enjoying the story.

Was not expecting the twist with Bobby and Tilla murdering the dad like that. Based off the end I don't think he stayed dead for long though...
