Alors j'ai clairement abandonné ce roman au bout de 200 pages, je pense qu'il n'était pas fait pour moi. J'ai trouvé le personnage d'Ayla particulièrement cliché de la fille qui ne voit que sa vengeance, elle est irréfléchi, agit sans ce soucier des conséquences etc. L'univers est original mais pas assez exploité à mon goût, ce que je trouve très dommage... Et pour finir, le rythme de ce début de tome est très lent, il ne se passe quasiment rien en 200 pages. Malheureusement, ça fait beaucoup et j'ai plein d'autres lectures qui m'attendent.

I really liked the slow burn and the time this book took to develop. I also find the framing of cultural appropriation in a sci fi setting to be interesting. There wasn't really any jaw dropping moments for me but otherwise I liked the plot. Also found the idea of a Kind created with so little thought for romantic love that they don't even have a frame for what a kiss or their sexuality is really interesting for the development of a romance. I will say the plot point of dead family member, who was the motivation for the main character, actually being alive and working with the rebellion is so used I knew it from the second she mentioned having a dead sibling.

Nothing especially memorable, but I do think the relationship progression was nice and the end was good. Wouldn’t reread but I’ll definitely read the second book !
