I will admit, the worldbuilding and the magical lore kept me confused for a good chunk of this book (there was just a lot for me) but I still ate this up so fast.
A solid set-up for a romantasy series! I am absolutely about to binge the next one because I am desperate for more tension between Zarya and Rabin.

Obfuckingsessed!!! This book was so good! I’m not gushing, you’re gushing. I have no words to do it justice. Just amazing, wonderful, perfection. Give me more!
The world that Nisha creates is absolutely incredible. From the first page I couldn’t put it down!
My thoughts…
If you love the found family trope in fantasy books, look no further. I wanted to jump into the book so many times and be with these characters!
There is a great balance of slow burn romance and fantasy in Heart of Night and Fire! There are perfect heart squeezing moments and the exciting fantasy moments that you’re looking for and so much more.
This was a great world building story that laid the scene for the new series while keeping you in the hook with twists and reveals.
I can’t wait for the next one!

If this was marketed as a YA cozy fantasy, I think I would have rated this higher. But my god this was slow. The romance was boring. The fantasy wasn’t there. Yes, I understand that we were literally in a fantasy world but that like saying you went to the city but only visited the suburbs. You also only get any real plot the last 5% of the book and so melodramatic. I think this will be the first time I will not be continuing with a series.

The author added a note in the beginning reassuring readers that everything within this story is inspired by a specific culture, but not directly derived from it and I loved that she added that. And when I saw the dedication, my heart absolutely melted. It was so incredibly sweet. There were moments in the writing that felt lush and interesting and the characters had a sort of found family aspect that melted my heart. Unfortunately, some of the dialogue also felt clunky and the main character's thought pattern and choices took me out of the story and impacted how much I was able to enjoy the story. The romance was interesting, but I'm not necessarily committed to finishing or continuing with the series. That is all personal preference though and I can definitely see where and why someone would love it.
Come on slow burn! This book had so many twists and turns and revelations throughout. I feel like the magic system could have been fleshed out a little more, but it was something different so I liked that as well. I enjoyed this book and I'm starting the next one right away!

This was my first book by Nisha Tuli, but it won’t be my last. I was immediately captivated by the world building. I loved how much research and effort went into cultivating this world and bringing a piece of India/south Asian culture with it.
The secrets Zarya was puzzling through had my attention from chapter one. I loved how fleshed out the characters were able to be developed throughout the story and then once we got to a certain point the plot really started moving and the action didn’t stop.
I can’t wait to discover more about the world and Zarya’s family, her ability, and most notably more about Rabin.
