The whole second half of the book had me on the edge my seat. Where you get a lot of the missing pieces and most of your questions answered, as you are learning them as the FMC finds out.

I am excited to see where this quartet leads! The found family that Zayra has, refreshing after hearing about her childhood. Can't wait to see what Zarya has in store for us.

I enjoyed reading and learning more about the South Asian lore and culture.

There are aspects of this book that I loved. The world building is lush and I'm definitely intrigued by the plot. Unfortunately Zarya frustrated me quite a bit, and I'm normally a girls' girl when it comes to FMCs but she was soooo indecisive (especially in the first half of the book) that I was getting whiplash. I understand this is book one of a four book series so I'm hoping to see some growth from her. I'll be continuing this series as overall I had a good time!

This reminded me of many other stories, which was alright. It seemed to struggle between being adult versus young adult. Hopefully the next book in the series will feel more settled into adult, especially since the main character is 21.
