A bit predictable, the ending made it worth it.

I love Shakespeare, and I don't know that this would hit the same if I didn't, but dang, this was great. I will say while I love Shakespeare, I am not a Shakespeare scholar, so there were good chunks of this that went right over my head
like the passage left in the note at the end--I was like...okay....until I looked up discussions on the book and DANG what a cool ending
this merits a reread for sure

A classic dark academia set up. A group of fourth year students at an elite arts university, with Shakespeare being the name of the game, when there is shift in casting, those who play more secondary roles are moved into the spot light, feelings and egos are bruised. Then one of the seven fourth years is found in the lake after weeks of being cruel towards the rest of the group but when they all have a motive, it’s hard to say who’s responsible or just an accident!! This plot kept me intrigued, I enjoyed that the story was split like a script into acts and scenes, it was actually really effective how each of the different acts were introduced by the main narrator in the later timeline then goes into the past timeline. The story dives into the complexities of human relationships emotions and motivations plus explores how far one would go for someone they love.

The reveal was predictable, but not so much what came after it. The slight predictability and how slow it felt at some parts, combined with what can be difficult reading if like me you're unfamiliar with theatrical and Shakespearean terminology is what brings this rating down. But otherwise, this is an interesting book and I'm glad to have read it. This might just be personal taste, but I'm not too sure it quite lives up to the hype of its online fandom.
