Watched the movie adaptation before reading, which spoiled some of the plot but didn't completely ruin it. Slowed down a lot in the middle, and the ending felt fast, but still worth the read/listen.

It’s not a beach read. It’s not an airplane read. It’s meant for a long, rainy weekend in the fall (or winter) where you can’t leave the house.

Because it’s a gothic, dense, plot twist-y, old england, lesbian novel.

This was my "I'm home alone" reading project for the week. I have held onto an audiocopy of this for years. I've heard amazing things, but was so nervous. Yes, it is long, but it is really REALLY good.
