3.5 stars // This is one of my least Coben favorites. I've read a lot of his books, many have been 4.5-5 stars, but this is my second "stinker."
The story didn't suck me in as others have and while it was surprising the twists felt stale... the biggest issue was I couldn't get into the characters... I didn't connect or bond with them or care... and the ending was just sad to me. Still love Coben, but recommend other titles from his collection.

It did take me a bit to get into this story but overall it was good.

I watched the tv series last year and have been waiting to read this. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's my first Coben novel, so I have no idea where it rates in his bibliography, but I found it well-plotted and captivating. There are a few differences between the tv series and book, and I thought both were fantastic, but I think the tv series might have a slight edge. (Tortured Richard Armitage is a pretty big draw.)
More like 2 and 1/2. Not Coben's best effort. Normally I really enjoy Coben's work, he knows how to write compelling, if not terribly deep, mysteries, and I like his characterization (again, usually), but this book just fell really flat for me.
There were a few things I didn't like, the ending among them, but my main annoyance was that none of the characters really interested me very much except Lorraine. There were also a lot of mostly unnecessary scenes with secondary characters that had nothing to do with the plot.
I was not impressed at all with this one, but it did still have most of the elements I enjoy from Harlan Coben's books, and it wasn't unreadable. I think maybe I'm just craving deeper, more interesting plots and characters right now, or I might have enjoyed it more? I'm not sure. It was just a total miss for me.
EDIT 8/2/14: It's been less than a year since I read this book, and I literally remember nothing from it. Great impression, huh?

It was ok. Entertaining enough but nothing different from any previous books.
This is a novel about a serial killer with a twist at the end you won't see coming.
