Overall I enjoyed this book, the only thing stopping me from giving it a 4 is that I didn’t catch feelings for the characters with the exception of Jud.

A real cult classic. Absolutely loved it, but a wee bit predictable. As the owner of two cats and a self professed crazy cat lady, this quote was one of my favourites:

" he's my cat! He's not God's cat! Let God have his own cat! Let God have all the damn old cat He wants, and kill them all! Church is mine!"

Man. This one was wayyyy sadder than I expected it to be. Everyone knows the premise of this novel, but the execution was so much more than I ever thought, having seen the old Pet Sematary. The depictions of grief and shame and guilt that comes from death were so beautifully written and well done. If you had told me King’s child had really died and inspired this novel, I’d believe it. It all felt so real.

The real spooks didn’t start till the end, but the atmosphere was tense and daunting for so much of this novel. It’s probably my second favorite King so far. Gotta keep working through them!

it was an amazing first stephen king read! although, i do not reccomend trying to compare it to the movies, especially the new one. i tried doing that for a bit before i realised that it was ruining the experience for me. all-in-all though, it was a great read! i loved the characters, their interactions, their stories, and their development. i enjoyed how it focused on the creed family as well as the whole main story which we all know. at first it seemed a little slow paced, but once i got into it, i could not put it down! 5/5 stars, i highly recommend!
