This is a really personal score - its a great book, but I had a hard time getting through it. I can objectively see why it got the raves it did (and we’ll deserved), but it wasn’t one I much enjoyed. A lot of descriptive text and a unique narrative voice.

Reminds me a lot of The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. It's very beautifully written.
