I started following the author on social media a few years ago because I heard her speak on Amanda Bucci’s podcast. I love lifting weights and I used to listen to podcasts and watch YouTube channels of people in that scene. Grace was one of them. She has definitely became such a major success and I love this book. It has practical information and reminds us overachievers to slow down and enjoy what we are doing and to try not to compare ourselves so much to our peers, especially by social media standards. Must read.

it’s a good book but i’m not in the right headspace to really absorb it. i also know a lot of this advice already from following grace’s inta and using her planners. i hope to get to it later in the year

I can see what this book was trying to do, but I just don’t think it works. You’ve probably got to pick a side. Either you recognize your privilege and work to deconstruct the meaningless bullshit of work and social media, or… I guess you continue regardless. This book went halfway towards a better understanding of work, and then decided what we need is a bit of a rest before we return to the hustle. This book wasn’t two halves. More like quarters. I understand my privilege only this much. I make a change only so far. I continue to support structures I understand only up to this amount.

I was expecting this to be a little more tailored to non conventional work, as a lot of books like this are very office focused. Unfortunately this just didn’t have enough practical tips for me to implement in my day to day life that I want already aware of

I wasn't sure about this, the beginning felt like common sense, however towards the end I did understand why Grace decided to write this book. I think it would have been impactful if it took a workbook style, although probably wouldn't have bought it.

An interesting approach to productivity and work culture. I found the narrative choice very jarring. I have always loved Grace and support her with all of her businesses. But this was a struggle to read. Luckily I listened to it on Audible and found it an easy listen while on the treadmill at the gym.

Conclusion: Good content but interesting narrative and style choice, one that makes it a tricky read. Would recommend the audio book version.
