I absolutely LOVED Namesake. Young is such a descriptive and lyrical writer, so not only is reading this book appeing in technical terms, but there are so many beautiful resolutions to Fable's life story ❤

I will be the first to admit I could never make it as a Jevali, or in the Narrows, or even in Bastain for that matter BUT it's so easy to imagine myself among the Marigold's crew.

I have a feeling this story is going to stay with me ❤

I can’t stress enough how much I LOVE these covers! And this world has me hooked! Each character is so unique with all their secrets, I wish this series was more than a duology because I have so many questions! Luckily I have the spin-offs to read still, but I love Fable. Her story has gripped me!

A steady, satisfying sail along with a very efficient author.

Book 2 ends the series, as it should. Young confidently sticks to the duology here, where other writers might drag it into a third book. No need. In Namesake, the mystery of Fable’s past deepens, and the adventures of the Marigold attain far-reaching importance. Young doesn’t bog it down with politics, but her world building is clear and convincing. While Book 2 lacks some of the whimsy of the first installment, it never gets boring. It never grasps for more than it’s been, like some novels seem to realize they’re running out of gas. Namesake gives a fun, satisfying conclusion to a solid story.

the trust that each character had in each other was incredibly meaningful in this series. they understood that the other person had a good reason for their actions or lies and that they wanted the best for the ones they cared about. this was an action-packed story without miscommunication and i loved fable’s found family and even blood family.
