I read an ARC of Fable and really enjoyed it. I was excited about the next installment of the duology but it just kept getting pushed to the bottom of my TBR.
I was thrilled his month when my book club wanted to read both books! Finally, I could make Namesake a priority read! I decided to re-read Fable so I didn't miss any minor details and then I immediately jumped into Namesake.
"There are some things that can't be carved from a person, no matter how far from home they've sailed."
Namesake begins right where Fable left off, which I absolutely loved! As with book one, secrets abound! Plenty of backstabbing and treacherous activity occurs in this book, as Fable returns to her mother's birth place. This book does an excellent job at answering the many questions that book one left us with!
I actually cried towards the end! That father-daughter scene!! Real tears came from my eyes, ya'll!
The only thing that kept me from rating both books at 5 stars is that I felt like there was a lot of repetitive sentiment in Fable’s thoughts about Saint and West.
But aside from that - Fable is a bad ass, the crew of the Marigold are fabulous, and the family theme was emotional and well done.

I loved this book even more than the first. It provided some answers & had multistep schemes going on. Highly recommend.
I absolutely LOVED Namesake. Young is such a descriptive and lyrical writer, so not only is reading this book appeing in technical terms, but there are so many beautiful resolutions to Fable's life story ❤
I will be the first to admit I could never make it as a Jevali, or in the Narrows, or even in Bastain for that matter BUT it's so easy to imagine myself among the Marigold's crew.
I have a feeling this story is going to stay with me ❤

I can’t stress enough how much I LOVE these covers! And this world has me hooked! Each character is so unique with all their secrets, I wish this series was more than a duology because I have so many questions! Luckily I have the spin-offs to read still, but I love Fable. Her story has gripped me!
