How do I possibly explain my love for this story and the author that brought it all to life?? I honestly have no idea but here goes me trying. Which also means TIME FOR A LOVE FEST, #fangirl moment...First let me say that age gap doesn't tend to be my fave...BUT when Jewel E Ann decides to tackle it I can no longer utter those thoughts. She can truly take any trope and make it my favorite thing in the world. TRULY. I often am asked for my favorite story of JEA's for people to start, it is one of my hardest questions to answer. I believe you can pick up ANY book with author Jewel E. Ann's name on it and fall head over in heels in love, but people want specifics. LOL anywho back to the Fisherman. This romance had it ALL, cringe worthy second hand embarrassment, times of laughing out loud, tender learning moments, a young woman finding her REAL self and not what was instilled, lies and deceit, truths and discoveries which lead to some of the HOTTEST scenes EVAH...all written with the guidance and originality of Ms. Ann. I am awed by the way I completely lost myself in this journey. I find myself sneak reading at work and with this particular story I STAYED UP UNTIL 3am TO FINISH. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. The beauty in this romance is the innocence of youth and in the same breath the complete panty melting parts of losing said innocence. If you know, you know. All in all. READ THIS FUCKING BOOK. And after that READ ALL HER FN BOOKS. The end xo
3.75 stars. I read this book really quickly. The writing style was really easy to sink into and the way this ended, I'm super excited to see where book 2 goes. It isn't without its faults which I really am hoping get ironed out in The Lost Fisherman. But I could see how this would be a favourite to a lot of people, I'm not yet 100% sold. I volunteered to listen to a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.
I couldn’t put this book down on my vacation.
At first the actions of the MMC don’t make sense and you want to THROTTLE him, but at the end… ugh at the end, it makes sense.
Also, this is not your typical HEA- it goes straight into book two. Which I immediately started afterwards.

"Loving you is my favorite thing to do. It’s automatic and effortless."
Life kan, you love someone at the wrong time.

Good Start.
I went into this book blind. I had no idea that it was an age gap romance. I also didn’t know that the hero, Fisher Mann, could be bordering on an (in Reese’s terms) donkeyhole. He pushes that line very very close to being just plain mean. But then he does things that melts your heart. I hadn’t read any reviews, but via book groups, knew this duet was popular. So I had to take the plunge and see for myself why.
Reese was only 18, but she had a good head on her shoulders. In some aspects she was definitely naïve, but in others, due to her background, she was very intelligent and knowledgeable. Life had dealt her some interesting cards and she was making the most of it as best she could. She had an opportunity to reconnect with her mom, and that lead her to Denver and the naked fisherman.
Some may call this a slow burn, but I wouldn’t classify this love story in that way, at least not in this first book. What it does portray is a young woman exploring her sexuality even though she had been bought up believing in saving herself for marriage. She goes through many emotions of wanted more but feeling it’s all wrong. She discovers that love does not concur all and good things come to those that wait.
What can I say about Fisher. He learnt a lot about himself also, and that love comes in all packages, even if they are delivered too early. I got the feeling that Fisher didn’t want to settle for just anyone, or he’d of married his family’s favorite. But I also think he wasn’t going to settle down at all because he didn’t think he’d find the right woman for him. He did though in Reese, he felt the connection from their first meeting and that meant a lot to Reese, but it didn’t change their dilemma - she was still only 18. She needed to experience life on her own for a while and find herself. That’s what I take on this first book.
I did read the bonus chapters in the appropriate timeline. A lot of it is just repeating the dialogue of what went on between Reese and Fisher but when there are his own thoughts, you get more of an understanding of where Fisher’s head was at. I am intrigued enough to want to see this through and watch them reach their HEA.

- no he’s not a fisherman his name is just Fisher… Mann
- h and H had the maturity of sophomores in hs
- if i had known she was going to bring up religion this much i never would have downloaded the book in the first place
- chemistry was nonexistent
- that ‘plot twist’ at the end… a mess
- writing was beyond cringy
this was just terrible

If there is one thing that Jewel E Ann is exceptional at, it is this....
She writes fated characters SO WELL. She makes her stories so compelling as to why they belong together and she reveals it in the best way.
She also, to my dismay, makes us wait forever for their time to come.
There is so much going on in this story. I couldn't get enough of the banter and chemistry between Fisher and Reese. She is a naïve late teenager who has lived under the rules of a strict religious upbringing. So much, that she doesn't even really know what she wants because she has always gone along with that way of life. After she gets out from under her grandparents thumbs and has some freedom, she starts to see life in a new way. Fisher just has the best way of making her think about things. It's exciting to see Reese figure out who she is and what she wants out of life. All of the play on words had me cracking up. There were some times I wanted to throttle them and some of the other characters too. I am anxious to see where this goes next and am hoping the damage to my heart will be minimal.
