wow this has to be one of my favourites in the series. I know this was only the third one, but it was just so good. From beginning to end i just had so much fun reading about her adventures and her daily life. Just the way thing were described in this book were just beautiful, i just felt better after reading a chapter or two from this book, i hardly wanted to put it down (many assignments had been procrastinated). I just found myself laughing out loud at so many points throughout this book.
I thought the chapters about ruby gillis were heart breaking. I never really cared about her as a character just as anne did not like her that much. She had spent the last book and the beginning of this book looking down for her for being boy crazy. And then when we find out along with anne that she was dying of tuberculosis i was tearing up on the bus. I sympathizes so much with anne about her childhood friend who she fell out if touch with was dying. It genuinely was heartbreaking to read.
Finally, a big plot point of this novel that many of us had been waiting for. Honestly i liked that she rejected Gilberts first proposal, she wasn't ready and before this point love had never really been on her mind, it was all about school. But after their falling out, she realized how much she depended on gilbert as a friend. and then roy coming in and her falling head over heel bc he was the type she had declared she wanted as a child, but as it goes on she realizes how roy isnt perfect like she expected him to be. She talks about how she likes him bc hes handsome and writes and says nice things to her, but she realizes hes not fun to talk to. Hes boring. She even states how how she told him funny stories that he didnt get while gilbert loved them and laughted with her. She unconsciously realizes how her childhood dreams are not what she expected. and when it comes to it and he proposes, she just knows its not right. and goes home from college. And at last shes home and fine and all is well until she finds out gilbert has been sick for weeks and is on the brink of death. and thats when she realizes, he is who she wants, shes always wanted him but shes just been too stupid and too set on childhood dreams to realize. and when she find out hes getting better its just sooo good. and then they start hanging out again and he asks her to go on a walk and then he goes on about how he still loves her and how he never stopped and i just go crazy. and then she says how she was stupid and ughhhh they make emends and it amazing.
side note everytime the author talks about anne's beauty while gilberts there, she always goes the extra mile to really detail her features with such pretty word i just love it.
honestly would be a 5 star if it didn't have a paragraph about killing a cat and those few chapters where she taught during the summer those just felt so unneeded.

Returning to the world of Anne Shirley is akin to coming home. There is just something so comforting about her charmed life. Book 3 describes Anne's years in college, although it may be more about her love life than anything else. Anne's world is certainly expanding, she is maturing, and yet her carefree imagination remains. The introduction of new characters adds depth to the developing storyline.
I definitely missed the immersive Avonlea setting, but Nova Scotia was a nice change of scenery. Anne's escapades have certainly diminished, but Davy's letters provide a taste of similar antics. And I absolutely adored the addition of Rusty.
While the content was certainly different, it was still enjoyable. And the ending is undoubtedly the shining star of this installment. I look forward to savouring whatever adventure Anne embarks on in the next book.
