Can you imagine driving home and seeing someone who resembles your daughter being kidnapped, but you can't stop it?? Welcome to the nightmare that is Gabe's life. This book starts off with a serious hook to grab you. As a parent that is my worst nightmare that something will happen to my son I can't protect him from. They say what goes around comes around. What if you could make that happen? Take karma into your own hands? That's basically what this story is about.

This story is a little creepy, a little scary, definitely dark and complex. It has a Stephen King"ish" feel and influence in the writing. I'm not a big fan of paranormal, but it works here.

"People say hate and bitterness will destroy you. They're wrong. It's hope. Hope will devour you from the inside like a parasite."

The storyline is completely original and a different twist on your typical thriller. I look forward to reading more of Tudor's work, this was my first book of hers.

My thanks to C.J. Tudor, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine and netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Solid. But the first half was a bit slow and lacked suspense. The second half was more engaging!

Wow! I started to read this book knowing nothing about the plot (this was my first book by this author as well), and I couldn't wait to see where it was taking me. THIS is what they call gripping thriller! It was a non-stop roller coaster ride with all the suspense and gut-wrenching emotions. Really well written!

This books was leaps and bounds better than The Chalk Man, which I find impressive because I really liked The Chalk Man. C.J. Tudor really showed up for this one. Perfectly timed, just the right amount of intrigue. Seamless integration of characters. Highly, highly recommend.
