Really a 3 1/2. I figured out several of the secrets but was surprised by the final culprit. The ending was somewhat odd. I'm going to check and see what others thought.

A nice murder mystery. Really enjoyed the different narrators with their different accents.
I usually like a fast paced thriller. This is not and somehow I didn't noticed that! The story is told alternating between "now" and "a day" / "a few hours" before from the various perspectives and that made me really want to know everybody's back story. I thought it really came together nicely.
Guess I also like this type of book!

This is a book that understood the assignment. Thickly laiden with all the tropes you want in a classic whodunnit, sharply written, well paced. I read it in one sitting. I was looking for a book with Knives Out energy and that's what this delivers.
It was a slow start but things started picking up about 1/2 way through. It does have the Agatha Christie “locked room murder” feel to it, where if you had paid attention, all the clues were there.
I look forward to reading her other books.

first things first: read this as an audiobook- it’s a full cast and each with a distinct accent. it’s probably one of the reasons i was so gripped on this story from the start.
3/4 of this book was great. right amount of intrigue and breadcrumbs for me to keep wanting to listen. each character had separate personalities and desires and thoughts so they didn’t get jumbled into one big lump of boring. though some of the main character perspectives did give off huge “red shirt character” vibes
the last quarter of the story (the last hour or so of the audiobook) just seemed to be twist after twist after twist. it seemed to be extremely rushed. like trying to shove all the dirt under the rug before your parents come home. all of a sudden secrets come to light seemingly out of nowhere and then there’s this epilogue that really contributes nothing and shouldn’t exist.
the ending bit really brought the rating and enjoyment down for me.
