The Conjuring meets The Vow, what a great way to get a horror junkie hooked! This was a nice quick read for anyone who looks paranormal movies., honestly I feel like this could easily find its way to any streaming service. Not too scary to keep up at night and just creepy enough to have yourself guessing what will happen next. The best part was the real life influences. As a crime and paranormal lover I picked up on a few of the influences but not all of them now, I have something new to research. Solid 4/5!

It's a quick read and I liked the main characters. It wasn't bad; it's just really predictable and the ending was anticlimactic. I also didn't love the fact that the satanic cult was inspired by Santa Muerte as it encourages misperceptions of that religious movement. If you're looking for a quick YA read that is a straight forward demon posession book with some self help critique thrown in, go for it. It actually kinda felt like middle grade. Maybe it was? Demonic posession for middle schoolers. That's my summary.

Vera and Max make the perfect team. The development of both of their characters is a strong suit of the story. The themes of grief and legacy are woven into the story through every single character and I enjoy that connection between them.

This was such a fun read! I genuinely didn’t anticipate loving this book as much as I did!!!

I’m awful at book reviews, so without spoiling it… I felt like this book had Supernatural, The Conjuring, Charmed vibes with a hint of late 90s early 00s strong female lead teen romcom.

Idk. It was just a wonderful read!
