I enjoyed this book! I thought Sally and Noah were well-formed characters. Their relationship developed naturally and they dealt with legit issues and insecurities in a believable way. I loved their witty banter and the peek into an SNL-type world. I also thought the incorporation of Covid was well-done.

The first third read as an overly-detailed SNL fanfiction. The main conflict was that the female main didn’t feel like she was good enough for the love interest, which I find deeply uninteresting. The characters were often two-dimensional and I got the background characters confused because they were so similar. There was good banter and I found some parts funny, but overall this was a pretty one-dimensional dud.

Prob more 3.5 but I’ll round up! I didn’t hate the covid stuff as much as I thought I would, but definitely would have preferred less “show and tell” around the SNL stuff.

An incredibly slow start, with roughy the first 40% of the book serving more as a behind the scenes of SNL (technically renamed for the book). After getting past the first half, the romance plot was almost painfully relatable and endearing. Enjoyable seeing 2 people in their late 30s finding love and grappling with insecurities, but the first half of the book could have easily been 30-50 pages…

The more I think about this book the more I like it! I love that it's older, established adults -not teenagers. The characters felt real and relatable, and the supporting cast was appropriately defined and involved and fun.

It almost felt like 3 different books - each of the 3 acts was very defined.

There were some sentences in act 3 that seemed a bit eye-rolling and agenda driven/unnecessary, and a bit of miscommunication..but honestly life does have some miscommunication and some fear of being vulnerable with another person so it was more relatable than annoying.

Romance/Spice: there was a keep you interested level of slow burn/anticipation mention of sex happening without it being explicit and a focus of the story. I actually (actually
