While the stories the author have to tell are very interesting my main takeaway from this book is how sad I am for his wives and children. He obviously is such a shitty husband and absentee father. He obviously thinks very highly of himself and doesn’t seem capable of understanding his children’s and wives’ perspectives. Also the narration from the actual cases jumps around a bit. Overall ok

This was good, but hard to read at times. The different cases he talked about were very interesting and it was interesting to see the behind the scenes and how investigations work. I also liked learning more about the golden state killer and his friendship with Michelle. The only thing I didn’t like was hearing about his horrible marriages. I get why he talked about them because the job took over his life, but I didn’t care.

"Healing is subjective, but the scars never fade, and the pain is always a breath away" P.3

This is a heavy, real, and informative book. Paul Holes is honest, real, and personable. I have been a fan of Paul Holes and his work to bring justice to victims. Reading his experiences and struggles with mental illness.
