I have to admit, I wimped out on I'll be Gone in the Dark, so I liked this more removed perspective. The pacing felt too slow, and it seemed like awkwardly spaced/timed outside information.

I feel weird rating a true crime memoir 1-5 stars, so I’m not going to. This book was a great read especially since I knew of Paul Holes from the My Favorite Murder podcast and have heard of the big cases he had worked on.

This gave detailed insight into Paul’s process working on cases and the strain solving crime had on his home life.

I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by him as well, and I really enjoyed it!

Starts off slow with a lot of exposition on Paul’s early life and career but picks up and becomes more engaging about halfway through.
