This is a beautiful story of womanhood in Afghanistan. Told from two perspectives and in two different time periods, Rahima and her great great grandmother Bibi Shekiba are both navigating what it means to be a woman. I found myself wanting to know more of each of their stories and continuing to think about them long after I finished the book.

I found Sparks Like Stars hard to put down.  This was not as engaging a read.  While I wanted to know what happened to the main characters, it was slower and I’m getting tired of the back and forth story lines.  Still I felt I learned something about women’s lives in Afghanistan and I was often infuriated at their treatment

Wow, the author managed to intruduce a western savior in the last chapters. Whyyyyyy did she have ro do that? It would have been perfectly fine if anyone else helped her
