I don’t know if this book had a plot, but if it did, i completely missed it

Weather’s uniquely disjointed story telling inspires a sense of dread and isolation unlike any I’ve felt before. It almost contradicts itself in how little and how greatly everything matters.

The disjointed nature of this book is perfect for reading during a pandemic. I really liked it.

Postcard from 2016

Offill recognizes and beautifully articulates that saying "it's all relative" in comparing pain or anxiety is rarely helpful. Balances the drama of everyday life against the drama of the planet detoriating. Which is more stressful? Why does it have to be a contest?

This one was kinda weird??? Like I was a fly on the wall to witness loose thoughts in someone’s head?? Idk

Weather made me feel like I was in Boston in the fall (though it’s set in NYC and spans across seasons). It had a very soothing autumn vibe – a ‘tilting into the abyss’ feeling that was dark and a little sad but also gentle and sometimes delightful. Little moments and phrases that caught my eye while reading – like how the narrator referred to her style of dress as like ‘a little dun bird’ – will likely stay with me longer than the book as a whole.
