The level of cringe the writing style brought me...mama

This book was sooo hyped up and I was so excited to read it and damn it! I was disappointed. This is definitely smutty so I was sad I didn’t really care for Zade. Maybe I’m not cut out for dark romance. I like my MMC to stop when a woman tells them “stop” or “no.” Even with his “redeeming” qualities of saving children and killing bad guys, I just could not fall for him. And Adeline is an idiot. If I read the second book it will only because of the damn cliff hanger and my OCD self needing to know what happens.

I think this book does a great job on shedding light into the uncomfortable topic about human trafficking.

Quick synopsis; Z is a vigilante/hacker who becomes infatuated and obsessed when he stumbles upon Addie at a book signing. He begins to stalk her in his free time when he’s not saving women and children from sex trafficking.

Does this make what he does to her okay? Not at all. Even if Addie does get off on being scared, she technically wasn’t giving consent at the beginning. But it's a book. Just like movies are movies. It's not that deep y'all, lol.

You mean to tell me you guys all skipped over the trigger warning on the first page of the book and still left a one star review for the triggers that you were warned about.? huh

I understand now why people hate this book.

Actually I liked the first half, but it get cringer. The more I read it, the more I realized I got manipulated.

I feel like this book have potential but it got wasted because H. D Carlton decided to put r*pe in it, she wanted to create this "he's my stalker, what should I do, why I got turn on by my own stalker, I like being chased, being tortured" babe it's called bdsm. Like?? Why can't you just said they like bdsm, why turned it into r*pe.

Zade (MMC) is a huge red flag, he is a savior of women and children but r*pe his own lover? He knew what he was doing, he acknowledged that but he still took it with force, I THOUGHT HE'LL CHANGE, well no he did not change and still r*pe. Oh and don't forget that he is also a fucking hypocrite.

Not only that, she keeps writing about how big his dingdong, why? not once but several times in one chapter, and she will mention it again in another chapter several times, PLUS what is his problem with god? and be god? and he's a god?

This book have potential tbh, I'm really into the story at the end, it's a cliffhanger, I'm genuinely curious about who, how, and what gonna happen next, but yeah it got wasted.

Zade is a huge red flag, and Adeline if you're still confused about why you got turn on because of the terror and hurt, maybe try to search bsdm, how can a famous author don't know how to do research on what's happening with her own body.

This book is not it, it ‘romanticizes’ stalking and assault and honestly just was gross. I think this book is best read going in as just plain horror and not dark romance. Like if you’re looking for a read that gives you the feeling of disgust, this may be for you. A lot of the spicy scenes were downright disturbing and not darkly romantic in any way. They were dark, but not romantic. There was also the question of “did the gun have a sight on it?” Cause if that’s the case then that lowkey makes me want to hurl in a ‘oh that seems painful’ type of way (A lot of sights for weapons are metal prongs that stick up at the end of a barrel). This book did succeed in making me cringe in various ways. Especially the overall weirdness of the mmc. I loved that he was a vigilante, but hated how he would treat Adeline. Especially when they were in the movie theater and they start doing the daddy stuff, like brother spends his entire life saving children but then plays into a daddy kink? How does that make any sense. That was just nasty. Overall, it is an entertaining read to say the least, but sometimes it wasn’t entertaining in a good way. It was nauseating.
