I absolutely loved this book. Yes, it was a little cliche and repetitive but it was such a great cozy read I couldn't put it down. I fell for both main characters from the start, the typical headstrong female lead with the conflicting swoon worth Duke. What makes the book feel unique is the rural county small-town setting. It made this book feel homely and relatable.

Aww, this was really cute! A very simple plot about two different people who meet each other at the right place and the right time. And I love a man who knows how to do a respectful grand gesture.
Warning: surprisingly steamy.

This is a great series starter with the town and the festival. We have duke that gets stuck at her home due to the festival. We get all her brothers and dad along with some of the town folks. These two are trying to not feel the pull and Law is to get on to father's pick.
Can't wait to see where this series go with Burke and Ridley

Sweet, light romance, a little on the graphic side.
Law is unhappily on his way to see if his father's friend's daughter and he would suit. When he finds himself happy when his carriage breaks down in Merrywell on the first day of their May Day Matchmaking ceremony. Sadie has been managing her four brothers and father since she was eight, but she is not happy to have a stranded Duke, his valet and injured coachman added to her duties.

A little heart goes a long way. Beguiling the Duke is a little bit obvious, but no less irresistible. Law and Sadie turn temptation into heartwarming. Burke gives humor a try with surprising results.
3.5 stars
I needed a bit of light reading after completing the excellent Katherine Arden trilogy.
This was too light.
Lawford, the Duke of ____, along with his valet and coachman, are on their way to meet a potential wife for Law.
En route, his coach loses a wheel and he’s forced to stop and ask for help from the local village. There’s no room at the inn due to the yearly Marywell festival and he and his valet and coachman are forced to stay with a local family, Sadie and her father and brothers.
Sadie is a lovely 24 year-old female, nearly “on the shelf” and looking forward to attending the Marywell festival in order to find a husband. She’s longing for a husband and home of her own.
In the very short span of a week, Sadie and Law fall in love, anticipate their wedding vows, have their betrothal sabotaged by Law’s valet, break up and then reconcile, and everything wrapped up in a happily ever after in SIX DAYS.
Talk about an insta romance.

A fun, fairly light-hearted quick read from one of my favorite historical romance authors. FMC Sadie is fast approaching spinsterhood and who has been doing all the things for her father and several brothers for many years. They love, but do not appreciate, her. Law, Duke of Lawford is fast approaching a marriage he is pretty sure he doesn't want. His carriage wheel breaks, stranding him and his two servants in the merry town of Marrywell just before the town's annual matchmaking festival. With no room at (any) inn, Law ends up staying with Sadie and her father. He also somehow ends up promising to her that he will make sure that she is engaged by the end of the festival. And so the romance begins.
I really liked Sadie. She is resourceful, smart, and caring, even though she is a bit too passive as the story starts. I was more unsure of Law, at least at the beginning. He was not fully up front, and he accepted way too much from his (dead father's) valet. He did, however, grow on me. Both Law and Sadie find their own inner strengths as their love story develops and it is a lovely juxtaposition.
This story does have a hint of insta-love (but as a novella, that is not totally unexpected) and just the right amount of spice. 4 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.
