The main female character was always weak, which is a pet peeve of mine. She always needed saving. Seemed she and the main male character always had the same types of interactions. I can appreciate why others may like it, just not my cup of tea. Would have gave this a 2 star, but the last 20-30 pages bumped it up. I feel almost inclined to read the next just to find out what happens, but I'm not sold on it.

Coudln't put it down. And the heartwrenching ending
4/5
I can’t believe how much I actually enjoyed this book and was hooked. I heard it was a slow burn and it is long, and that they only first kiss at the end of the book. So initially I thought I’d hate it bc I’m very impatient and hate slowburns but somehow this kept me captivated the whole time. Both characters had such an obsession with each other from their inner monologue so knowing their thoughts behind everything kept me loving and waiting to see when they come together. Even tho there was no physical activity, they still had so many tension filled moments and were so cute to each other. I can’t wait to move onto the next book since it left on a cliff hanger. I legit read this book within 48 hours. It also takes place in Ireland so they all have accents and use unfamiliar lingo but I didn’t mind once I understood what they meant. The only thing is some moment seem a little much, like them thinking their in love with the other one early one, kinda insta-lovey but nothing too unbearably cringey.
Shannon is a 15 year old girl that had to transfer schools due to intense bullying. She goes to Tommen, and on her first day she cuts across the rugby field and Johnny accidentally punts a ball at her head and gives her a concussion. Johnny is the school (and Ireland’s rising) rugby star. He immediately feels a need to take care of her and protect her so he stays with her at the office while waiting for her mom. He instantly is obsessed and gets her file and sees she was bullied. He makes sure no one fucks with her, especially his crazy ex fling who is fucking his teammate now. We find out Shannon is abused at home, and that Johnny has a horrible groin injury that he’s hiding and not letting heal properly. They get close when he keeps offering to bring her home, and even her brother Joey gets friendly with Johnny. Gibsie, the best friend is such a funny character and I love the banter and friendship between him and Johnny. The book ends with Johnny finally admitting he wants her and to stop trying to only be friends since she’s young, but he gets horribly injured in his game which puts him in the hospital. My fav scene by far is when he is loopy and telling Shannon that she is gonna have his children and gushing about her in front of everyone. When Shannon goes home, she is BRUTALLY beaten by her dad so her brother Joey decided all five of the children are leaving them cuz they’re horrible parents. Now onto book 2!

It's as simple as this: this is the best book I've read in my entire life.
