Well this was fun! I throughly enjoyed this next phase of Mistborn. The characters are lovable, the world has changed so much, and the mystery is full throttle. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I’m sure there are people that would absolutely love this book. I’m just not particularly fond of stories set in industrial revolution time periods, and I really don’t enjoy books where the protagonist is a cop. TRIGGER WARNING:
while not depicted, the main motivation for Wax to save the women that have been abducted is that he finds out they are likely being sex trafficked. He does not find them in this book and it is implied they will be forcibly bred to produce Allomancers.

BrandoSando wanted to treat readers of the original trilogy with a fast-paced sequel, set centuries later, with a Victorian aesthetic AND gunslingers. Somehow it works!

Always a big fan of what this man can do and I'm especially keen to see how he develops this fantasy society with modern technology and the different religions!

I loved being back in this world and I realized I will never get tired of Allomancers jumping, flying, gliding thought the mists.

I had kinda low expectations for this book because I heard it's not as good as Era 1. But truly, how do you compare something to the definition of perfection that Mistborn Era 1 is for me? I was also skeptical because I don't enjoy western like settings. But I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked the setting of the book! Loved the exploration of how the magic system changes and adepts in this era, reminiscent of the industrial age. It was also fascinating to see how the world evolved in the 300 years after the ending of Era 1, how details from the past are remembered in myths, legends, religions and places. I almost cried every time I recognized a name or a detail that was mentioned.

I was also surprised by how much fun I had with the plot and the characters in this book. Although both are not as brilliant, developed, well constructed and epic as the first three books, I loved spending time with Wax, Wayne and Marasi. Their banter was funny and I was never bored. I was just not as emotionally invested in them as in Vin, Kel and the crew of Era 1. Plus, I was super intrigues by the prologue which felt like a Criminal Minds episode and all the tales of serial killers Wax had brought to justice... just for the mystery of the majority of the plot to be robberies. I mean, I enjoyed the story for what it was, but I hope it gets a little bit more exciting in the next books.

After the epilogue, I am definitely curious how the series will continue and how it will fit in the broader timeline and the cosmere.

Fairly fun. Not as exciting as other Mistborn or Cosmere novels, but enjoyable.
