High 3.5 I enjoyed this book. The characters were fun, and I liked the dynamics with the side characters. It is a bit short though and as a result we missed some exposition.
How did Liv end up as a stripper and college drop out?
How did Parker end until with Emily, a woman completely ill suited to him?
What happened to Emily after the accident?
How did Parker and Livy not recognize each other after only 4 years apart?
These questions kept it from being 5 stars for me.

And just as an aside, if you’re going to have a character doing sex work, please don’t have her be constantly ashamed. Having her be a conflicted sex worker just throws judgement on an industry that already is judged enough. Sex work is work. If the male characters aren’t ashamed of going to a strip club the female characters don’t need to be ashamed they work there.

After reading and loving other books by this author I was honestly a little shocked by how much I didn't like it.

If you want good solid spice and you aren't too bothered by a lack of plot and weakly developed characters then you're golden.

If you want a plot that flows from beginning to end, if you want characters you can actually enjoy, if you can't stand filler randomness in your books...skip this.

Perhaps fantasy is the only genre that this particular author nails.  Or maybe this is the beginning of her career and she's grown since then.

Idk.  But this none just felt a little incomplete and didn't flow well for me.

I devoured this book
I loved Liv and Parker’s story
The author did a brilliant job at arranging the story bouncing between the present and the past to give you insight on the couples history
I remained drawn in the entire book and didn’t want to put it down

Starting this book I was a little nervous because it has some of my favorite (brother's best friend) and least favorite (cheating) tropes, but I decided to give it a shot because the audiobook is pretty short and I'm glad I did.

Holly Renee did a fantastic job with the *tension* throughout this book - which is why brother's best friend is one of my top tropes. From that element, to the employer-employee dynamic, to the long-term mutual pining that happens throughout the whole book - it was great. I don't know how to feel about this fact, but it was pretty easy to pretend that Parker wasn't in a relationship and that he and Livy were just working through their past relationship trauma throughout the book.

Also, I never imagined how tension-filled getting a tattoo by someone you're pining for would be, but this has suddenly become one of my favorite microtropes.
