I hate the Council. They're useless. This book was kind of a strange one for me, as things happened, but there really didn't seem to be any kind of solid plot. But Nathaniel is introduced, and that's a huge plus. I adore him.

I’m starting to enjoy this series and how Anita has grown and started to realize she has a lot of power and embraces the pack now.
I still hate that she thinks she knows everything and I hate that there are pages dedicated to talking about why she wore a certain outfit to carry a certain gun, but now I know she can change her mind about her opinions a little bit so I’m not as bothered.

I simply cannot believe that Anita Blake just excels at everything she touches. Control over Vamps, Werewolves/Leopards/Rats, zombies, ghosts, and just about every person she argues with who happens to be twice her size? And this is only book number 7 out of 20+? I can only imagine how much more ridiculousness Hamilton will be able to conjure up for her super duper heroine. At this point it seems like the only thing that can bring down the Almighty Anita would be Kryptonite... but she might have some type of defense for that too... :-/

Flying through this series because I just can't stop now. I am loving Anita's character progression and how she is developing. The basement scene was terrifying and I could picture the whole thing while reading. I don't want to say too much and spoil things. It's wonderful, loving it!
