One of the best books I have read in a long time.

This was a very enjoyable book. Writing it from the perspective of a seventh grader forced the reader to see small and large issues in a whole different light. It’s a fun book that also makes you think. Definitely recommend.

Without too much effort, you could probably come up with a dozen or so books of the Teacher-Who's-Totally-Mean-At-First-Develops-A-Mentoring-Relationship-With-The-Student-And-There-Are-Some-Life-Lessons-And-A-Bunch-Of-Growing-Up-Happens Genre, but dollars to doughnuts, none would be quite as good or as fun to read as Wednesday Wars. Toads, beetles, bats, I loved it--as the Bard might say. This one could probably work as young as fourth grade.

I'm a sucker for Newberry award winners, and this one deserved it. Seventh grader Holling discovers that people and relationships are complicated. This one's a good one.

This was a very enjoyable, well-written, and clever coming-of-age novel.

Shakespeare and seventh-grade struggles...what a great story! Thankful for the Mrs. Bakers in my life.

I thought I had already reviewed this book but I guess not. I read it and enjoyed it well enough but I wasn't sure if it would appeal to students. Instead of cataloguing it straight away, I passed it to a pair of 10 year old twins who are voracious readers. The brother has finished it and said it was really good and the sister is reading it now but told me she is enjoying it so far.
