This book was nothing like I expected, in a good way. It kept on surprising me. It's an intruiging story and I found myself thinking about it often.

This book has a bit of an open ending, and I am excited to read the sequel (especially given the cliffhanger on the last page).

This book is like a cross between The Strain trilogy and World War Z. The ending of this book (#1 in the trilogy) was pretty cliffhanger-y. There was very little resolution to part one, and mostly groundwork laid for part two. Overall, a good, well-paced read in what apparently is my new favorite genre (post-apocalyptic fiction).

This book was a marathon, and I never thought it would finish. I ended up giving it four stars because it is unlike anything I have ever read before. It starts off fantastic, and the first third of the book was really interesting. Then I started to struggle with where it went. It did pick up towards the end, but I will definitely have a break before I attempt the next one in the series.
Justin has created a world that is believable and devastating. I think it would make a good tv series.

Great narrative. It's got vampires but not as cliche as it sounds. Book 2 is coming in 2012 but will it have 700+ pages as well??

Way better than anticipated

I oftentimes judge books by the reviews left by other readers, which I did this one. I went into this thinking that the main story line would be focused on Amy, the small mysterious child and later began to realize that this was about much more than that. While there were definitely slow moments, they were brought to a head by characters that seemed to have been lost from earlier to the book that evolved into much, much more.

While I wish I had a more stringent opinion on what is "good" I read this one for strictly entertainment purposes, which was refreshing rather than picking apart each storyline and dialogue.

Almost as amazing as FEED by Mira Grant. Lots of jumping around, interesting plot, good characters. Will continue series.

The story is intriguing enough, but it's quite... word-intensive, to the point that the constant detours into the various characters' back-stories slow down the pace and offer far too much information that ultimately made me lose any interest in how events are meant to progress.
