Like a lazy little sloth, I procrastinated reading this one until spring break where, in a fit of rare motivation, I burned through it in a day and a half. This was not that difficult for me as this book, in terms of language, was the easiest to read of them all.
“Jane Eyre” and “Wuthering Heights” outweigh this book in popularity, but not in my mind, as the development of Helen Graham was of a most tender variety that earned it five stars for me!

Beautiful. Charming. Passionate. Horrific.

A uncommon feministic book for that time period! I certainly developed a burning hate for some of the characters while reading, which sometimes made me tired of reading it but equally obsessed with it. It was very satisfying to see the story’s and the protagonist’s development and the ending was so so so earned that it made me emotional. Not an easy read for sure, but worth every second of it. (I enjoyed it far more than the books of the author’s sisters Jane Eyre and Wuthering hight, though I expected much from them and absolutely nothing from this, because I had never heard of it before reading)
