I received this book from my secret Santa in 2017 and have finally gotten around to reading it.
Sandra Brown had always been one of my all-time favourite authors, so I had high expectations for Seeing Red. She did not disappoint. Ms. Brown took me on a ride filled with suspense, mystery and has jaw dropping twists, served with a side of romance. This is a story that will keep you up through the wee hours of the night as you need to know how it will all end.
John Trapper and Kerra Bailey are the focus of this fantastic story. Kerra, top-notch journalist is on the verge of boosting her career if she lands an interview with town hero Major Franklin Trapper. Numerous attempts to secure the interview proved futile. so armed with the reluctant assistance of the major’s son along with an important piece of information from an incident which occurred twenty-five years ago Kerra set out to secure the interview. However, her attempts to gain the interview set into motion events that place her life and that of the major in jeopardy.
John Trapper has been living in the shadow of his father’s heroism for the past twenty-five years. He believes there is more to the incident than they led people to believe. His determination to prove his theory led to his personal and professional life spiralling out of control. This did not stop him from continuing his investigation if anything it spurred him to further to try to prove to all he was not delusional.
I loved both Kerra and John. Initially, I had a difficult time warming up to John, but as I peeled away his layers and delved deeper into what made him tick, I found myself drawn to him. Yeah, he was rough around the edges but he cared and determined to protect those he loved.
I admired Kerra’s professionalism and ethics. She never allowed her desire for a story to take precedence over what she considered being the morally correct thing to do.
Kerra and John together was a forced to be reckoned with both professionally and intimately. I thought they worked well together in their pursuit of the truth.
When I stated earlier that Ms. Brown took me on a suspenseful side, it was no exaggeration. From the start to the end. Figuring out what was going on was no easy task. Then there were the jaw dropping twists that the author revealed near to the end. I never saw that last one coming. That was the doozy of them all. That reveal was devastating for quite a few persons.
Conclusion/Recommendation
Fans of Sandra Brown will love Seeing Red. If you love romantic suspense, but read none of Ms. Brown’s work this would be a good place to start.

mysterious
Diverse cast of characters:
No
I've been hoping to pick up more mysteries (maybe it's something about craving Spooky-Season), so I thought this one might be a fun place to start. And it was! Romance, however, isn't my normal genre... so I feel a bit out of my element even writing a review for this one, but I'm going to try.
As far as the mystery storyline goes, it moved along relatively quickly and I enjoyed being a part of its unfolding! Romance-wise: 🤷♀️. It was predictable. Is that just something that comes along with romance territory, though? Is expecting a bit of mystery there silly of me? I do not know! I am a romance newb!
All-in-all an enjoyable read. The books I tend to LOOOVE, though, are books that challenge me to look at life in a new way. This wasn't one of those books.

I don't usually go in for books that involve romance in any way, but I felt that the plot sounded so good that I would happily enjoy the romantic elements should the thriller aspects, well, thrill me! This was my first time reading a Sandra Brown novel, although I wouldn't be averse to trying some more of her work. Having published seventy-two books, with fifty-seven of those becoming New York Times bestsellers, Brown certainly has a knack for creating timeless stories that both excite and engage readers from all corners of the globe.
The plot is a complex one which just manages to stay on the right side of complicated. There are surprises and twists aplenty, and they come at you thick and fast. Despite the many twists and turns, the plot maintains believability and comes across as rather realistic in nature, something I always appreciate and believe is the sign of a particularly adept writer. The characters were well fleshed out, and both Kerra Bailey and John Trapper are likeable, affable, and admirable people. As the synopsis suggests, there is a little romance sprinkled into this thriller, but I must admit I found the sex scenes rather offputting and unnecessary - they didn't add anything to the story, so I couldn't understand why they were really there. I don't know whether my dislike for romance novels was at play here or whether others would share my opinion on the matter. There is also humour in the plot which adds another dimension to the whole thing. If i'm honest, I underestimated how much I would love this, but I won't make the same mistake again. I will definitely be acquiring more of Brown's work to read in the future.
Many thanks to Hodder Paperbacks for an ARC. I was not required to post a review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I started listening to the audiobook to kill time while I was on the express bus. The story was interesting at first but I couldn't see any attractions between Trapper and Kerra.
The plot has some twists but I felt disappointed with the ending. Even after finishing the book, I still can't understand why the bad guy went after the Major and Kerra.

I did not enjoy reading what I managed to read in this book. I decided it was in my best interest to quit reading to spare myself some brain decay after reading the following:
"He might have gone forever just kissing her if not for a greater hunger that he must gratify or die" I wanted to die in disgust when I read that little blurb.
Overall I don't understand the sex appeal for Trapper. He's not hot, he's a perverted creepy self-centered asshole who could maybe benefit more spiritually if he got his dick chopped off. One of the reasons why I think this way is because (Not a spoiler) his father got shot and all Trapper could think about was Kerra's tits (etc) when he visited her/his father in the hospital. Priorities, priorities.
