4.5 stars. All I needed to know about a book before going into it is forced marriage between an 'x' and an 'x' hunter/hater, and I am there! This book genuinely kept me engaged throughout the entire thing, which I feel has been tough for me recently. The dual prospective allowed readers to get to know both characters, their thoughts, their desires, etc. There was a veeeery steamy scene in here that I didn't know about going into it, but let's just say I wouldn't have been allowed to read that if I was still the target audience (12-19) for YA books. So yeah, I'm gonna need another one soon.

I really actually really liked this book. I didn’t have high hopes at the beginning but I really enjoyed Reid and Lou’s chemistry and none of the characters were annoying. The magic system was a bit confusing with the pattern stuff but I would read this again as I loved the slow burn enemies to lovers. I don’t think I’m going to read the second book though as I’ve looked at reviews and don’t feel like reading a filler book. Overall it was good and I would read it again.

This is a new adult novel, set in 17th century France. Lou is a witch, Reid is a witch hunter and they are forced into marriage. Reid hates witches and wants to kill them all. The two obviously start to fall for each other.

The story isn't really a fantasy novel (there's minimal world building) with romance, it's more of a romantic fantasy novel. Go into it for the romance and you want be disappointed. I thought the two had great chemistry and I was shipping them. Witches and forbidden love is something I enjoy a lot though. It actually really exceeded the hype for me and I can't wait to read the sequel.

4/5 stars.
I recommend this to fans of romantic fantasy, urban fantasy and witches.

Honestly I really enjoyed it. I wish I had the time and energy to read it faster cause I devoured it when I did sit and read it. Excited for the next one! I think it lives up to the hype

Honestly I was so surprised at how much I loved Lou. I loved her rebellious personality. The banter between Lou and Reid, and Lou and Coco made me laugh multiple times out loud. I felt so connected to them, as if I knew them in real life.

The cliffhanger wasn’t too bad or dramatic, and while I’m extremely excited for B&H, I can wait it out.
