I recently read V for Vendetta and read The Watchmen a while back, I realized they were both written by Alan Moore and I have heard innumerable good things about “The Killing Joke.” Since I’ve never been into DC or Batman that much, I’ve never given it a try. The end goal of all this explaining is that this is my first real experience with Batman and the Joker (besides The Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix).
Overall, I think it’s interesting. I think to really get the gravity of this, I’d need to read more DC stuff, get a little bit more on the level. The artwork was beautiful, I don’t think the part with Barbara being violated was really needed. But, I think the question of sanity was interesting. The way I thought about it was the dichotomy between good and bad. Is Batman good? Is he sane? Is he only considered sane because he is “fighting for the good side?” Definitely deserves a second read in a month or a week or something.

Insane drawings, insane story, everything is insane in a good way, in the best way.

A Joker origin story that intersperses The Joker's latest escape and confrontation with Batman, with (one of?) the Joker's tragic and horrific backstory.
Clear and compelling graphics and concise story telling. Very atmospheric.

The ending scene could be predicted in so many different ways and I love that. On one hand people agree that Batman stuck to his one unsaid rule while others believe that this was a new leaf turned for him as a character. I don’t know but I think Moore gives us all the clues to what we should look at it as and I am very satisfied with them.
PS: The Joker to this day is the biggest and most calculated villain within the DC universe just on the mere fact that his story is never the same but always justifies why he’s so “bad”.
But what strikes me the most is that he is actually on to something. He had a bad day and manifested into someone against the world while Batman also had a bad day and tried to do the greater good for the world. They stories are both so similar, I can’t help but think this one time Batman just gave in to his dark desires “for the greater good”.
