I know that people often say that they are tired of Sad Gay media where the lover dies, but certain Sad Gay media, like this book, are so poignant and beautiful and intensely sad in a way that is simultaneously a universal and a very individual misery, that you can't help but really really love it. The language in this book, and the intense, fleeting-yet-forever emotion in it is captivating and heartbreaking. This is a book that is sad in a way that the emotion feels very real, because none of the emotion is certain; every character is confused and uncertain and feels intensely without knowing what to do with any of that emotion.

Read for class, but had been on the to-read list for a while. Short and to the point; the story moves quickly from their first meeting to the last, but the asynchronous plot produces enough depth. Solid.
