I’m pretty sure the time jump was to make Spiderling old enough to put her in a backless costume. Which, gross.

Love this. Peter Parker has gone from dealing with his own high school problems to dealing with adult problems, including having a super-powered teenage daughter.

For me, the entire thing is summed up with the panel of Peter and Mary Jane (in their costumes) watching their daughter fly away after severely chastising her for breaking the rules. The two parents look at each other and realize they’ve done a good job. But also that what they do as parents isn’t any easier than taking down bad guys.

Really well done.

Renew Your Vows is a fun series that gives me an aspect I want out of Peter Parker after so many years. He’s got his own family and troubles to worry about. In this title you won’t get super grand villain plots or giant plot twists.

You get something more solid which is the character dynamics between Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, and Spiderling. Which are the best part. The perspective changes issue to issue with Spiderling/Penny taking the most issues.

It’s eight years later and Spiderling is a sophomore in high school. But she also has to balance her superhero antics and Peter and MJ have to let her become her own person. There’s a Lizard story and a semi Osborn story. Both work to help with the growing of the characters.

The art changes after three issues but both styles are good just different.

Solid read even if not much goes on plot wise.

3 stars.
