Sorry

I was drawn in by the premise of an antisocial scientist having to work and co-exist with a duty-bound alien warrior to achieve a common goal.

After about 20% I started skimming, sorry to say. The writing was just so unbelievably clunky.

The author could not make up her mind if she was writing in present of past tense. So she used both, often in the same paragraph. The text was filled with telling not showing and exposition. POV kept weirdly jumping. Dialogue was clumsy and illogical.

Plus, the aforementioned scientist lady did not seem to question much the fact that what she had been asked to do with not much explanation, was essentially a genocide. So ... there was that too.
