The plot tools were unfortunately very obvious, and didn’t have the impact I would have hoped. So much I saw really far in advance.
This feels like a fantasy version of Sabrina starting Audrey Hepburn. Where the FMC has a crush on the younger brother, then goes away to get cultured and comes back to fall in love with him, only to fall in love with the older brother.
The familiarity of characters introduced to each other was shocking. The author just chose to skip over polite conversation.
The nicknames are soooooo bad. Like every time I read them I want to DNF the book. It’s bad.
Thank you Vanessa for an ARC of your book! All opinions are my own.

Flat, yet nonsensical. It’s how I’d imagine AI would write a story solely based on booktok trends/tropes.

This book felt clumsy in the beginning, the pacing was fully off and it was a battle to get through the first 50%. I couldn’t quite grasp how we went from several changes of POV’s and also skipped 3 years into the future.
However, once I managed to get past that, and the book settled into a normal pace of chapters lasting days rather than years, the last 50% made up for it. I personally think it would massively benefit from a lot of editing and some tidying up.
Overall I’ve definitely read worse, but won’t be rushing to read again

Everyone, I just finished Until the Stars Fall by Vanessa Rasanen. It is a sweet romantasy adventure inspired by the classic Sabrina movie but set in the fae world. It has all the best tropes, assisting with dress unbuttoning, who did this to you, mutual pining, protector, enemies-ish to lovers, dream connections, one horse! The male characters have shades of Captain America and Buckey, as well as Stefan and Damon (there may or may not be a well placed Hello, brother quote)
I highly reccomend the audiobook as the dual narrative works beautifully
