This book has some of the most amazing, genuine and raw Frida Kahlo art I've ever seen. I believe this is a must if you love the artist. There isn't much writing, but all the drawings and journal entries are accompanied by a lengthy analysis. Would definitely recommend it.

I've never read anything like this. I sat on it for around half a year, reading the translations and then reading the words in spanish and really appreciating the depth and emotion of Kahlo's writing and the beauty of her art.

One of my biggest inspirations. Not the commodified idea of Frida, but the obsessive, messy, brilliant honesty of her diary. I've always preferred the sketchbook, the diary to the finished piece, so often a product. These pages and words gave me comfort post-surgery when I was bed bound and bleeding.

Absolutely stunning.

I love Frida Kahlo with all of my heart, so I knew that I was going to love this. However, I was kind of expecting more from the introduction and 'essays'.

I think a lot of Kahlo - her wit and her pain and her vitality - is lost in translation. However, her self-portrait speak volumes. She is more than the art she paints and she is more than the tragedies she succumbed - she is a multifaceted woman.

Frida writes how she paints; surreal and beautiful.

I liked the structure of this book and the beautiful prints of her diary pages... She writes with so much emotion! But the commentaries from other people were a bit pretentious and random.
