6’7” romance bookstore owner? Aka my dream man?

This book was no masterpiece. The pacing was strange (a bit rushed in the end, slower in the beginning), nothing about it was really all that creative, and I didn’t love the FMC, but I still had such a fun time with it. 🤣 good vibes for me all the way through.

The story is an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story about two rival bookstore managers: she the “is love real” cynic who loves and specializes in hard-hitting literary fiction, and he the HEA-loving romance specialist wanting everyone to find their perfect love story. The MMC was THEE perfect romance hero — excellent listener, wants to understand her, tall and hot and cut but also with a few flaws to keep him humble (like dislexia).

There’s a bit of “hidden penpal identity” which I loved too, although I frankly could have used more tension there 🤣
she was thrilled immediately upon discovering his identity, and completely understood his secrecy because she’d asked it of him. Which, ok, but it was a bit jarring
. The third act breakup wasn’t really about their relationship but about their jobs, which was just ehhh but by the time i got there i was invested 😆.

The first half... yeah, that was rough to go through. I do understand other reviews about Josie just being plain mean 😭 like, girl... chill.
This book is definitely CHEESY, with a very, seemingly unbelievable male love interest lol but we take it. For my 100th book of the year, it was decent!
