I thoroughly enjoyed this! You’ve Got Mail is an all-time favorite of mine and this was a very well done retelling. It was also more believable that 2 booksellers, in a booksellers forum, would stumble upon their love/nemesis.

My only issue is I really wished Josie had found out about Ryan being RJ in a different way. I was expecting it to be revealed by Brenda coming back, after reading the queer love story, and thanking RJ and Josie would over hear the nickname. Otherwise, Brenda and even JR were pretty pointless.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️What an enjoyable read! Ryan Lawson is the manager of the Happy Endings, romantic bookstore. Josie Klein is the manager for Tableau Inscripto, a high brow bookstore with a coffee shop in between the two. The two are unknowingly corresponding with each other on social media, multiple times a day. All the characters are people you would want to be friends with. They are all likeable, relatable and full of distinct personalities.

After the owner of the stores on the block decides to combine all three storefronts into one building, consolidating all staff, the competition begins as only one of the bookstore managers will survive.  The writing was enjoyable and easy to read. It is worth reading more from this author. A notable  plot line includes the couple’s attendance at a book conference. Tons of literary quotes and titles worth reading are cleverly sprinkled within the text. The conclusion was extremely satisfying. Any book that references the Scholastic Book Fair is a winner to me.

Quotes…
I am the product of every book I’ve ever read and every experience I’ve had, each heartbreak and failure, every moment of sadness and joy.

Falling in love is something that happens to you, sometimes even against your will—like being struck by lightning or catching the flu. But staying in love? That’s a choice.

Exactly! No matter how long it’s been, books are waiting with open pages, ready to whisk you away on an adventure or comfort you after a rough day. People may come and go from your life, but books? Books are forever.

Maybe he's right. Maybe all stories are love stories at their core. The search for belonging, the ache of grief, our fumbling attempt to find purpose and connection in this big, confusing world.

The point isn't the sex, or the fantasy of the perfect partner, or even falling in love. It's about being willing to be vulnerable, to dig deep, to confront your shadows, embrace your own story, and become a stronger, braver version of yourself. It's not about the happy ending—it's about believing that you're worthy of one.

There’s something intimate about recommending a book to someone, so to have someone choose a book for me, a book that’s exactly what I need after a challenging day? A true gift.

Anyone can be brave and try again. It’s not that love works out perfectly. But love can create the perfect environment to face our fears.

He now viewed a successful relationship as one where both people had recognized the best of what the other person had to offer and had chosen to value it as well.
