I've never read a book that so accurately captures what it's like growing from girl to teenager and desperately wanting to be a grown-up, but you also just never want your childhood to end. I want to hug all the women and girls in this book forever. Contrary to almost every other review, I love that "nothing happened". Nothing was supposed to happen. And I love it for it.

I really really did not like this and it just wasn’t for me. As someone else’s review said there’s just a lot of unaddressed things and also a lot of subtle or blatant racism, fat phobia, sexism etc that’s just never addressed and I get that the characters are young and it’s from their perspective but I really just did not enjoy this
Additionally I just have a personal preference where I don’t really tend to like books where the whole vibe is just - sad which this book 100% is
I figured I’d give this a 2.75 or 3 in the middle but I just disliked it more and more the further I went

A coming-of-age tale with some sprinkled in family drama and rampant sexism. I felt a bit unresolved at the end (though I suppose that’s the point), and I didn’t have positive feelings towards the main character. I would’ve liked to see more of the other characters’ storylines expanded upon.
