I started this mid-last year, got almost half way through and then for whatever reason just didn’t pick it back up? Finishing it now, I really don’t understand how I ever stopped. This was so funny, clever, relevant and unbelievably witty. It was self aware but not in a pretentious way and was just an all around pleasant read. Was definitely slow at parts which I’m assuming is why I put it down but generally such a good book.

Definitely worth listening to the audiobook. The voice actor was fantastic and made this book so engaging.
Mammoth by Chris Flynn
This is the randomest of random reviews I’ve thrown together in quite some time. Grabbed this novel from a pile of books my sister handed to me awhile back. Narrated by the grumpy voiced mammoth it is a story that spans ages. It is a story that inspires outbursts of laughter but it is the moments of courage, of love, injustice and profound loneliness that really took hold of this readers imagination. Throw in an argumentative mummified hand with the voice and demeanour of Pharaoh Hatshepsut, a Tyrannosaur with a small hand complex and a fossilised penguin and things get interesting. I find myself comparing it in parts to Liu Cixin, woven with Atwood and Clifford Chase, all while wondering at the simplicity of it all.

I really enjoyed this amazing story! It’s very captivating, even during the lulls. I’d love to read more of the fossils stories
