Reading the blurb made me interested in reading this book. It captured my attention and my brain started racing. However I wasn't as impressed with this book as I had hoped I would be. In the very first chapter characters are thrown at me with a speed that is astounding. I couldn't really bond with any of them due to how many there were. Add to this the point of view jumped around so quickly that I actually sat there saying okay wait who am I in now. I mean I was in Liss's head and then bam I'm suddenly in Jeremy's head without warning. It was a little distracting and confusing to say the least.
I can say that I did eventually come to enjoy the story. However if I hadn't made it through the first half of the book I wouldn't have. It took a lot for me to continue reading I actually put this book down at least a dozen times to go do housework, and I hate housework. But I muddled through the story and wound up if not loving it at least thinking to myself that it wasn't a complete waste of time.
I will say this Melissa L. Webb does have a brilliant idea in this story and if the characters were introduced in a manner that made it flow better I think it would have held my attention longer. Also if Liss wasn't such a whiny nincompoop I would have liked her more. I did like how her friends stuck by her no matter how she was and were always there to support her. I'm not sure why but I think that won a lot of points in my eyes. Probably because I wish kids were truly like that.
All in all its not a bad book, it just didn't do it for me. I'm giving it 3 stars because while I didn't enjoy it completely I did wind up liking the ending. And the Author has weaved some chilling scenes, and came up with some great one-liners. So the question is would I recommend this book to others, my answer is not as a first choice however I would add it to my list of possibles. I do hope to see more from Melissa L. Webb because she does have talent.
