Rockstar romances can be fun and flirty, your typical singer finds the wallflower. Not the case with this one! Lara Ward Cosio takes you back to high school, when Sophie and Gavin were students, the band just starting out and their love strong. Circumstances as they are, the two are separated and when they are brought back together, life will never be the same. For me when I listen, I get drawn in, living the life of the characters as the story goes on. These two are on an emotional roller coaster, and I took the ride with them. Their love is so strong, it's easy to feel it, their pain so real, it made my heart hurt. From Ireland to California, with the members of the band whom I love, and the lifestyle they all live, I took the journey hoping to get to Gavin and Sophie's happy ending, but there is more in store for this couple, and I can't wait to hear it!
All I can say is WOW to the narration. This is my first book with Lee Brophy and he is amazing. Bringing has an amazing Irish brogue to the band right along with a switch to a female American is simply extraordinary. He is expressive and emotional as he brings the story to life. I will definitely be watching for more from this talented narrator.

*** WARNING SPOILERS *** Tangled Up In You by Lara Ward Cosio gets 4 stars from me. Tangled Up In You is the first book in the Rogue Series. Rogue, noun, 1. A dishonest or unprincipled man. 1.2 A person whose behavior one disapproves of but one who is nonetheless likable or attractive (often used as a playful term of reproof). This book starts off with Sophie Kavanaugh reminiscing about her High School love Gavin McManus who is now a rising Rock Star with his Irish band Rogue. After telling her friends about Gavin, Sophie finds out that his band will be in town. She decides a reunion is in order. However, her presence is not received well by Gavin but Connor his guitarist and best friend is more than happy to see Sophie again! After the first failed reunion Sophie and Gavin get together to rekindle their relationship. After they have announced to the band that they are now a couple things between Connor and Gavin become strained. Rogue starts to write its second album and starts to deal with their new fame that has exploded out of nowhere! Slow start to the book but after the back story was explained you start to get sucked into this amazing read! Sophie and Gavin's love story/journey in the limelight is on of the best things I have read in a long time. Lara wrote an amazing book and I cannot wait to read the next installment in the Rogue Series!

This book was just very sad and depressing to read. Everything about the main couple's relationship was drenched in sadness and worry and I just couldn't find joy in them coming together.
As a young adult, the female lead gives up everything to follow the male lead making his rockstar career come true. She moves continents, tries to change college/uni but misses the cut off so ends up delaying (I didn't get far enough in to know if she ever actually goes back) and basically cuts herself off from her family and friends. All of her decisions and concessions truly make me think she'd be running and filing for divorce in a few years when she realises the relationship is toxic at best and abusive at worst.
The male lead has everything he wanted - his fledgling rockstar career, lots of sexual exploits and exes that just happen to pop up to cause issues, and a dedicated girlfriend who gives up her life for him. He doesn't sacrifice anything and doesn't see the imbalance at all.
None of the side characters approve of their relationship either, and even though the majority of the side characters were unlikable I had to side with them on this point.
