I loved this even more than the first book and I didn't think that was even possible. Just the relationship that develops between Damen and Laurent is just beautiful. I did not like Laurent in the first book but I took a break between reading thr first and second book so I came into this book with no preconceived notions against Laurent.

I also enjoyed the whole war aspect and the training moments in this book. It's a reminder that there is a larger plot to this book and that it's not just a romance. They are fighting and preparing for a war. That was more emphasised in this book than the last one. And that cliff hanger at the end leaves me so weak because I was womdering how C S Pacat would do it and it was done well.

Truly every aspect of this book I loved and I love Damen more and more as the books go on. Truly I am so excited ro read the next book in this series.
