This was a great book. It’s erotica, so know that going in, however don’t mistake it for bodice ripping empty headed sex nonsense. Yes, there’s a ton of sex in this book. It’s steamy. However, there are also complicated characters who experience real growth.
For years I’ve scoffed at romance books, thinking them a waste. Some of them are totally a waste. Others are a delightful escape from the dreary real world and others are tackling real life in a way that is empowering for the reader. This is that kind of book.

This was HOT and I want more. There's a second title in the series but it looks like it's been delayed so in the meantime, I continue to catch up on Ms. Rai's backlist.
Jacob's baggage was an irresponsible father who died and left with him with the responsibility of raising 2 teenaged brothers and a half-sister who he thought might have been his until she was 9 yos. Akira's issues were that both her parents were sociopaths who didn't want her - her father was an attention whore and her mother slut-shamed her so she pushed Jacob away, thinking she wasn't good enough for him.

Everything about this book from the evocative (and perfect for the book) title to the plot is my catnip.
Akira is a billionaire who ruins men for all other women. Jacob is the staid writer who disapproves of her. Then Akira shocks him into kissing her and it's all brilliant. It's wonderfully written and very pro-female in its execution.
I highly recommend it.

Lots of sex, graphically described.
The characters got to be annoying after a while, with groveling after one another or basically acting like a jerk (when they weren't having sex). And two-thirds of the way through the book we get to a massive multiplayer -- I mean, multi-participant menage, which felt really out of nowhere. I don't think you should feel that way about an orgy.
I dunno, guess I'm not the target market.
The characters had specific traits that they had to display, over and over again, so we'd be sure we were looking at the right people.
The parents' backstories were both terrible and not very interesting.
It is well written (really) but I didn't believe a word of it.

This erotic romance is a great gender flipped version of the usual badass sexy billionaire narrative. Rai strikes a great balance of plenty of sexy times 🔥🔥🔥 but also ample doses of 💓. Tbh, it was actually a little TOO wild for me at times (group sex and BDSM just aren't my things) but I am sure others would love it. I really liked how feminist and sex-positive this book was, and how it dealt with the male character's journey of realizing having feminist principles didn't necessarily always mean he was acting in accordance with them.
