Ich habe mich echt auf das Buch gefreut und wurde total enttäuscht. Das wunderschöne Cover entspricht leider nicht dem Inhalt. Ich hatte von Anfang an ein komisches Gefühl dabei, dass ein Mann ein Buch über zwei Frauen schreibt und was soll ich sagen… mein Gefühl hatte recht. Voll mit Stereotypen, ich habe keine Sympathien für die Charaktere aufbauen können und alles in allem einfach sehr nervig.

Total klischeehaft fand ich vor allem die Darstellung von der Teenagerin Sally. Irgendwie ging es mir auch zu viel um das Töten von Tieren. Dazu das blackfacing und die homophoben Äußerungen an einer Stelle?? Schrecklich unsensibel und schwer auszuhalten.

Auch die Sprache fand ich an vielen Stellen schrecklich und unangenehm. Deshalb und auch durch die einigen Stellen mit sehr problematischen Ausdrücken, kann ich die positiven Rezension zur Sprache gar nicht nachvollziehen.

Ich habe noch nie so sehr gehadert, ob ich ein Buch abbrechen soll oder nicht, aber letztendlich hat mir das Buch so schlechte Laune gemacht, dass es ein unnötiger Zwang gewesen wäre das Buch weiter zu lesen.

War alles sehr idyllisch (teils betulich) bis auf die Szene wo sie Blackface machen um Sally wie Jim Knopf aussehen zu lassen (muss das wirklich sein?) und diese extrem merkwürdige Badewannenszene...hm.
