Another fascinating nonfiction read this week. A lot of interesting information about mental health and the military and how it’s shaped culture.

I came across this book while browsing Libby. Because of all the fiction I have been reading lately I really wanted to sink my teeth into some meaty nonfiction. This book is a mouthful! It gives a detailed history on mental illness, neurodivergence, and disability, as well as the cultural significance of capitalism, productivity, and independence. There were parts that were so dense that it dragged for me in audio form, but Grinker brings the research and personal experience to the table to help us all better understand the power and magnitude of stigma, and reframe it to build a better and more inclusive world.
