Fascinating concept and so, so sad. I cried a lot but really loved it
I liked the book up until the beginning of the end when it just started feeling like a diary written in third person. I think it felt like that because there wasn't really a good red thread anymore, but small stories about small characters that weren't really very involved with the anchor of the story. The book was basically about a guy who got to know loads of people that all ended up dying anyways and he was left with a really sad life.

I loved this book. It's beautifully written and has such an unusual premise. Heartbreaking in places but with an underlying sense of hope.
Kinda hard to rate this hi-tech tale. The characters are well thought out and very insightful. A computer service to access video-chat and email between the living and their dead loved ones, I don't know..its not something I would personally be interested in. But the story was compassionate and raised some meaningful ideas.
I opened this book expecting to read a story thoughtfully exploring the many sides of dealing with the loss of a loved one but instead a book that blindly stumbled around the ideas of grieving and loss. It was never bad enough to put down but never good enough to truly love either. The author did not, in my opinion, truly reflect on the feeling of loss surrounding death in a meaningful way and instead used her story to create an overblown sense of tragedy (don't even get me started on that melodramatic plot twist) that failed to inspire any deep sense of an understanding of death. The book is not, however, devoid of sparks of wisdom and beauty and I admit I highlighted a few passages, but the book is more centered on sensationalism than it is on the deeper nuances of human loss. This book failed in what I wanted it to be and therefore I was disappointed.

It's a beautiful thing when you get a book, and a book gets you.
It can feel like talking o your best friend in some cases, but while reading Goodbye For Now I felt like I was talking to my grandmother.
I love this book.

A truly bizarre science fiction story about death. I enjoyed the first three-quarters - before it got too sad. Then I started to skip over some sections and slog through to the end.
Hmmm… sad but also deeply interesting about what is real? What do we need to mourn? Do we ever move on?
